Recap of IFSA UBC’s Academic Seminar

On the evening of Thursday, October 5, 2023, the International Forestry Students Association (IFSA) UBC hosted a captivating academic seminar that left attendees with a deeper understanding of the critical issues at the intersection of forests, food, and climate change. This thought-provoking event, held both in-person at UBC Forest Science Centre 1221 and virtually via Zoom, featured the esteemed guest lecturer, Prof. Terry Sunderland.

Prof. Sunderland, drawing from a decade of extensive research in the field, shared a wealth of intriguing insights during his lecture titled “Forests, Food, and a Changing Climate: Prospects for the Sustainable Food System?.” He provided attendees with a comprehensive view of the direct contributions of forest foods to rural diets and shed light on the pivotal role that forests and trees play in sustaining agricultural production.

We, IFSA-UBC, extends our sincere appreciation to Prof. Terry Sunderland for delivering such a thoughtful and illuminating lecture. We would also like to express our gratitude to the diverse audience that joined us for this event, contributing to insightful discussions and a dynamic exchange of ideas.
